Rimini Reading Holiday
A week beside the Adriatic, with time for books, Italian sunshine and the pleasure of travelling with fellow readers.
A literary holiday by the sea
Good books, good company and a little Italian dolce vita
Rimini is known for its long sandy beaches, but there is much more to discover beyond the seafront. Spend your days reading by the pool or on the beach, wander through the historic centre, stop for coffee or an aperitivo, and come together in the evenings for relaxed conversation with other book lovers.
There is no pressure to join in with everything. The joy of a Books in Places holiday is having company when you want it and time to yourself when you don't.

The book we'll be reading
Rimini by Pier Vittorio Tondelli
What better novel to take to Rimini than one set against its glittering 1980s Riviera? Tondelli's Rimini weaves together stories of ambition, love, scandal and restless lives in a seaside world of sunshine and excess.
We'll meet for a book club discussion during the holiday, discovering how the atmosphere of the novel compares with the town we see around us today. There will also be an “A Book I Love” evening, when everyone is welcome to share a favourite read and pick up ideas for what to read next.
The place
More than a beach holiday
Slow days by the Adriatic
Find a sunny spot with a book, enjoy the promenade or take a dip in the hotel's outdoor pool. This is a holiday with room to unwind.
A historic Italian town
Explore Rimini's old centre, including the Roman Arch of Augustus and the Bridge of Tiberius, along with cafés, markets and inviting streets.
Evenings together
Four dinners at local restaurants give us plenty of opportunities to enjoy Italian food, talk about our reading and get to know one another.
Our base for the week
Hotel Rondinella e Viola
We'll stay at this welcoming, family-run three-star hotel, around 120 metres from Rimini's sandy beach. It has an outdoor pool, sun terrace, bar and comfortable rooms, giving us a relaxed base for a week of reading and exploring.
Rooms are booked for sole use, so you have your own space to retreat to. Twin rooms can also be arranged for guests who would prefer to share.

You'll be in good company
Most people come on Books in Places trips on their own, and many have never been on a group holiday before. You already have something in common with everyone else: a love of books. It's an easy starting point for conversation and, often, new friendships.
Books in Places was founded by Paul Wright after seven years running book clubs in Bristol and Exeter. Paul or an experienced member of the Books in Places team will host the trip, helping everyone feel welcome while leaving plenty of freedom to enjoy the holiday their own way.
