New for 2027 - Tangier!

Visiting Tangier offers a rich mix of cultures, history and atmosphere, with mild weather in January that is ideal for exploring the medina, coastline and surrounding landscapes.

This trip will be focused on the book "Let It Come Down" by Paul Bowles, a powerful novel set in Tangier in the 1950s, exploring identity, moral tension and cultural collision.

Paul Bowles lived in Tangier for more than fifty years and became one of the city’s most influential literary figures. Writers, artists and musicians were drawn to him and to the creative freedom Tangier offered during the mid-twentieth century. His writing is deeply shaped by the city’s atmosphere, cultural tensions and sense of dislocation. During our stay we will visit the Paul Bowles Museum, dedicated to his life and work, offering a deeper understanding of his writing and his lasting connection to Tangier.

We will have a local tour guide for our exploration of Tangier, helping us to understand the city that Paul Bowles called home for over fifty years. We will walk through the historic Kasbah and medina, taking in the Grand Socco, hidden streets and viewpoints that capture the spirit of the city.

During the week we will also travel beyond Tangier, including a full-day visit to the mountain town of Chefchaouen, known for its blue-washed streets and relaxed pace. There will be time to read, reflect and discuss the book, as well as plenty of free time to explore cafés, coastal paths and markets at your own pace.
