There's something special about reading a novel and then travelling to the place that inspired it. For this trip, we're reading The Return by Victoria Hislop, a moving story of love, family and the scars left by the Spanish Civil War.
When Sonia visits Granada, she finds herself drawn into the story of a family whose lives were transformed by the conflict. Flamenco, memory and the city's turbulent past all play their part.
We'll discover Granada together, with plenty of time to talk about the book, enjoy good company and experience the atmosphere that brings its story to life.

Welcome to Granada
Fly from your chosen UK airport to Málaga, where you'll join the group transfer to Granada. The drive takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Settle in at the centrally located Meliá Granada and enjoy your first evening in the city.
Find your feet in the city
Time to start discovering Granada. Wander its historic streets, find a café, or explore the old neighbourhoods at your own pace. It's also a lovely opportunity to get to know the other readers in the group.
Alhambra, Nasrid Palaces and Generalife
Today brings our included three-hour guided tour of Granada's most famous landmark. Discover the Alhambra's courtyards and intricate architecture, explore the magnificent Nasrid Palaces and visit the gardens of the Generalife.
With a knowledgeable guide, we'll learn more about the extraordinary layers of history that make this such a memorable place.
A little more Granada
Another day to enjoy the city your own way. You might return to a favourite area, seek out a flamenco performance or simply settle somewhere lovely with your book. Optional activities are at your own expense.
Homeward bound
Join the group transfer to Málaga Airport for your flight home, taking away memories of Granada and, hopefully, a few new reading friends.

Stay in the heart of the city
We'll be staying for four nights at the Meliá Granada, ideally placed for exploring the city's streets, restaurants and historic sights.
With the Cathedral, shopping streets and tapas bars nearby, it's a convenient base for discovering Granada, whether you're exploring with other guests or taking some time to yourself.
