Black Diamonds by Catherine Bailey

Monday 6th – Wednesday 8th April

Step into one of the most extraordinary aristocratic scandals of the twentieth century on this immersive reading retreat inspired by Black Diamonds by Catherine Bailey.

Set against the grandeur and intrigue of Wentworth Woodhouse, this weekend brings the book vividly to life, combining shared reading, thoughtful discussion and exploration of the places at the very heart of the story.

What to expect:

  • Two nights’ accommodation at the historic Hellaby Hall Hotel, set in peaceful South Yorkshire countryside
  • A visit to Wentworth Woodhouse, the remarkable estate central to the story of Black Diamonds (entrance fee not included)
  • Hosted group discussions exploring the book, its history and revelations
  • Time to read, relax and reflect in elegant surroundings
  • Breakfast and dinner included during your stay

Black Diamonds uncovers the shocking and long-hidden story of the Fitzwilliam family — heirs to vast wealth and one of England’s greatest stately homes. Reading this book while walking through the rooms and grounds of Wentworth Woodhouse offers a powerful and deeply atmospheric experience.

So everyone can stay together, I have booked rooms at the characterful Hellaby Hall Hotel for the two nights. With its historic setting and welcoming atmosphere, it provides the perfect base for a reflective and book-filled weekend.
