Visit to Saint Malo in July 2025

Visiting Saint-Malo for a book club gathering inspired by "All the Light We Cannot See" will offer a unique and immersive experience. Nestled on the Brittany coast, Saint-Malo is a town rich in history and charm, its cobblestone streets and ancient walls echoing the narratives of the past.

I have pre-booked accommodation so you can stay with others if you would like to or you are free to organise your own accommodation.

ITINERARY

Monday 7th July 2025

After arriving in St Malo and having time to check in, we will all meet up in the evening over something to eat and meet our fellow book-lovers. These initial evenings offer a wonderful opportunity to meet everyone and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while getting to know our fellow book lovers. It's always fascinating to hear what everyone is reading.

Tuesday 8th July 2025
We will explore the city together today and visit the historic sites and soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful city.
After exploring the city for the day, we will head back to our accommodation for a chance to refresh, before meeting up again for our evening meal and book club meeting event in a local restaurant. This meal is included in the price.
Wednesday 9th July 2025
If you are staying longer, today is free for you to explore more of St Malo either on your own or with others from the group.

Accommodation

I have booked rooms at the very central Hôtel Quic en Groigne, which is praised for its charming atmosphere, friendly staff, and excellent location near the beach and old town, making it an ideal base for exploring the historic city.

Having run book clubs in Bristol and Exeter for over 6 years, Books in Places is an extension of that experience. A relaxed sociable meeting of like minded people who enjoy talking about a book they love, but time in the city the book is set.
