The Familiars by Stacey Halls
Spend the Easter weekend in Brontë country for the gripping novel The Familiars by Stacey Halls, set against the frenzy of the real Pendle Hill Witch Trials that occurred locally at the time.
For this trip we will be staying in Haworth, near where the book is set and home to the Brontë sisters. Staying in Haworth gives us the opportunity to discuss The Familiars, while also learning more about the Brontë sisters with a visit to the Brontë parsonage museum.

ITINERARY
Friday 18th April 2025
After arriving at the hotel and having time to check in, we will all meet up in the evening over something to eat and familiarise ourselves.
Saturday 19th April 2025
After breakfast, we will explore Haworth, trying to spot all of the filming locations used throughout the town over the years and soak up the atmosphere of the place. During our walk, we will find Cobbles & Clay for some coffee and cake or something a little larger if you need brunch or lunch.
The Brontë Parsonage is the highlight of any visit to Haworth for Brontë enthusiasts and the curious alike. This historic house was the Brontë family's residence throughout their time in Haworth, and it was where Branwell, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne spent most of their lives. Today, the Parsonage is a museum, with rooms restored to reflect how the family lived, alongside exhibits and displays that provide insight into their lives and the literary masterpieces they created.
The day concludes with our evening meal and book club meeting event, where we will discuss the novel The Familiars, along with much else. This meal is included in the price.
Sunday - 20th April 2025
One final breakfast together before checking out and then a free day to explore more of the surrounding area.
Visit Gawthorpe Hall, now a National Trust property https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/liverpool-lancashire/gawthorpe-hall
Stay local and wander the moorlands that inspired Wuthering Heights, visit the atmospheric St. Michael and All Angels' Church, or explore the Brontë Waterfall. Alternatively, for the more adventurous, a walk to Pendle Hill or alternatively, drive over to Pendle and do a shorter walk.Accommodation
