I am going to run this trip as the same weekend as we had in 2024 as it falls on the Spanish National Day. This year there was a large prade in Madrid which included the Royal family, which made the weekend even more interesting.

ITINERARY
Friday - 10th Oct 2025
After arriving in Madrid and having time to check in, we will all meet up in the evening and have a welcome drink and something to eat locally.
Saturday - 11th October 2025
On our literary tour of Madrid inspired by C.J. Sansom's "Winter in Madrid," we will immerse ourselves in the city's post-Civil War atmosphere. We'll start at Puerta del Sol, the bustling heart of Madrid, and explore the nearby Plaza Mayor, where echoes of espionage and political intrigue come to life. We will visit the historic Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral, capturing the era's grandeur. As we wander through Retiro Park, we’ll reflect on Harry Brett's contemplative moments. We'll conclude at the Museo Reina Sofía, housing art that mirrors Spain's turbulent history. Throughout, our guide will weave in the novel's plot, blending historical facts with the gripping story of survival and espionage.Sunday - 12th Oct 2025
Today is National Day in Spain and if it is anything like this year, there will be lots going on. This year, there was music all over the city, as well as a military parade with the Royal family. Alternatively, the El Rastro Flea and antique market happens on Sunday and is featured in the book and well worth a visit this year on a beautiful sunny morning.
