Bletchley Park weekend for The Rose Code by Kate Quinn

Reading "The Rose Code" by Kate Quinn will deeply enrich our visit to Bletchley Park, offering us a vivid lens through which to explore this historically significant site. Bletchley Park, the once top-secret home of the World War Two Codebreakers, will come to life as we recognize the remarkable achievements of individuals like Alan Turing, Gordon Welchman, and Bill Tutte, whose efforts were crucial in altering the course of the war.

"The Rose Code" by Kate Quinn is a best-selling, award-winning historical novel that follows three women codebreakers at Bletchley Park during World War II. The story intertwines their personal and professional struggles, revealing their crucial role in the war effort and the deep bonds formed amidst secrecy and tension.

We will all stay at the beautiful Woughton House Hotel, very close to Bletchley Park, for our weekend soaking up the atmosphere of Bletchley with fellow book lovers.

ITINERARY

Friday 21st February 2025

After arriving at our hotel and having time to check in, we will all meet in the hotel restaurant in the evening for something to eat and to get to know one another. These first evenings are a lovely chance to meet everyone and enjoy a relaxed evening getting to know our fellow book lovers. It is always interesting to hear what everyone is reading.

Saturday 22nd February 2025
After breakfast, we will visit Bletchley Park itself, a place of exceptional historical importance and the birthplace of modern information technology. Highlights include restored codebreaking huts with WW2 interiors, hands-on displays in the GC&CS blocks, interactive multimedia guides, beautiful grounds, historic buildings, atmospheric soundscapes, galleries, and exhibitions that showcase the legacy of wartime codebreakers.

The day concludes with our book discussion over an evening meal in a local restaurant that may well have been visited by the code breakers of Bletchley Park.

Sunday - 23th February 2025
One final breakfast together before checking out and then a free day to explore more of the surrounding area. You have the option to return to Bletchley again as well if you wish.

Accommodation

I have booked rooms at the Woughton House Hotel, which includes breakfast on both days. The hotel, in the attractive village of Woughton-on-the-Green,  is a former Georgian manor house and its architecture and design reflect the style of that period.
